We recommend painting your home every 6-8 years.
If properly prepared, a recoat should mean minimal scraping and sanding. Preparation is the key to the longevity of any paint project.
The first step in preparing your home for paint is to clean the surface. Pressure washing is a great way to rid the surface of fungus, mildew, mold and dirt. After washing the house, we use sanders to feather out the peeling, bubbling and cracking areas. This creates a smooth clean look to the surface. Homes built prior to 1978 are likely to have been painted with lead paint. Special care must be taken when removing lead paint. We are an RRP/EPA certified company and have trained employees using special equipment to work around homes where lead is present. Our sanders are attached to HEPA vacuums which contain the dust and debris. The work area is carefully dropped off with plastic tarps to contain any debris that falls off the house from scrapers. After work is completed, the area is thoroughly cleaned. All exposed wood is then primed with an oil primer. Finally, we use high quality products for the top coat from companies like Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams.
